exodus to fohabe

We hike to Fohabe tomorrow for a one-day trip. I don’t remember the exact details but it is about four hours one way. I will hike a new path tomorrow to know if it is shorter to leave from Ampitavanana.

I will teach from Exodus 19 & 24, John 1 and 1 Timothy 2:5. We will look at Moses and Jesus as mediators for the people of God. We will also discuss the glory of God as shown to the Israelites and how radically different His glory looks in Jesus. Mirana, our national partner and language teacher, said this lesson is spot-on with situation of the village.

Fohabe is traditionally Catholic. Forget what textsbooks and websites tell you about Catholicism, here it is its own breed but with an emphasis on Mary being a mediator between man and God. In addition to Jesus’ mother as a mediator, they pay a witchdoctor to keep evil spirits out of the village. They agreed to pay for a teacher once the roof provided by BGR was put on the school; however, they cannot keep this promise because all of their money is spent on the protection of the shaman. Tomorrow I hope that the Word will teach them there is only one God and one mediator between man and God, the man Jesus.

  1. HEY! If you’re going via Ampitivanana, could you stop for a minute in Beremby (it’s on the way) and possibly give them a Mahafaly Vaovao ho Anao? Have fun on the mountains!!! 🙂

  2. I will be praying for open ears and hearts as they listen about Jesus, and His importance. Love mom
