We Have an Advocate with the Father…

I expect my leaders to advocate for me well. Likewise, I should seek to advocate for my team members as I would like to be advocated for. I gave my word this week; Then I took it back.  I had to change my decision which would have resulted in myself and my team reaping the consequences, possibly losing the trust of a village. No, the situation wasn’t a moral issue, but a weighty one.

I had to choose between advocating for myself and my family or advocating for the needs of my team members who are rocking it out every week in the villages. I chose to advocate for my family over the needs of the team leaving my team members with the fallout. Me attempting  to clean up the fallout was like putting a band-aid on a shotgun wound, one I caused.

I’m not trying to be cryptic about the situation; It is resolved now even in the midst of my mind that is tossed about like a wave of the sea, so the specifics are not important. What is important is the lesson I learned: that I cannot advocate for everyone in all things at all times, but we have an Advocate with the Father in our worst situation, condition, our sin. He can advocate for me and others in different situations with different needs at the same time. Amazing…
